Amsonia

Deep lavender-blue flowers about 1cm across are produced from early to midsummer above willow-like, greyish green leaves. A native to Greece and Turkey, this clump-forming perennial looks similar to Amsonia tabernaemontana but is more compact and has the added bonus of autumn colour too. Great for the front of a sunny border and the blue blooms look lovely against white flowering plants.Position: full sunSoil: moist but well-drained soilRate of growth: averageFlowering period: June and JulyFlower colour: deep lavender-blueOther features: attractive autumn colourHardiness: fully hardy Garden care: Divide plants in spring
