Balkan Crane's Bill

Clusters of dazzling, saucer shaped, purplish pink flowers from May to September and strongly aromatic, light green leaves which colour well in autumn. The deeply cut, semi-evergreen foliage soon spreads to form low hummocks making it an invaluable weed suppressing plant especially in shade. It associates well with strongly shaped perennials, such as bergenia, and spring bulbs such as narcissi or bluebells where it is ideal for hiding their foliage as they die down.Position: full sun or partial shadeSoil: fertile, well-drained soilRate of growth: average to fast growingFlowering period: May to SeptemberFlower colour: purplish pinkOther features: aromatic, light green leaves, autumn colourHardiness: fully hardy Garden care: Carefully weed by hand - hoeing can break rhizomes as these are very close to the surface. Lift and divide large colonies in spring
