Persian Ivy

This vigorous, variegated Persian ivy has large, heart-shaped, mottled grey-green leaves, edged with cream. A handsome, self-clinging, evergreen climber suitable for brightening a partly shady wall or for use as fast-growing groundcover, it's perfect for planting areas recently cleared of builder's rubble since it prefers alkaline soil.Position: full sun or partial shadeSoil: humus-rich, preferably alkaline, moist, well-drained soil (or John Innes No3 potting compost for container-grown plants)Rate of growth: fast-growingFlowering period: October and NovemberFlower colour: yellowish-green (on mature plants)Other features: all parts of the plant may cause severe discomfort if ingested; the sap is a potential irritantHardiness: fully hardyGarden care: Water specimens grown as houseplants regularly during the growing season, providing a balanced liquid fertiliser each month. Keep moist during the winter months.
