St. John's Wort

Cheerful, yellow, cup-shaped flowers from July to October and strikingly variegated mid-green, cream and pink leaves. This low, spreading, semi- evergreen shrub is a valuable groundcover plant where space is limited. Less invasive than the ubiquitous 'rose of Sharon' (Hypericum calcycinum), it requires moderately-fertile, moist, well-drained soil and protection from cold, drying winds.Position: full sun or partial shadeSoil: moderately-fertile, moist but well-drained soilRate of growth: average Flowering period: July to October Flower colour: golden-yellowOther features: arching red-flushed shootsHardiness: fully hardyGarden care: After flowering lightly trim back shoots that spoil the symmetry of the plant.
